![]() Community Church of Chesterland welcomes people of all backgrounds to celebrate the love of God and Jesus Christ. We strive to follow the examples of Christ and other faithful people as recorded in the Old and New testament of the Bible. As a family of faith we seek to live out our love for God by answering Jesus' call to "love one another as I have loved you." As a congregation we are committed to growing in love and understanding, and to sharing the Good News by reaching out to our congregation, community, and world. Community Church of Chesterland, as an Open and Affirming Church, seeks to welcome fully all people regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, faith, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, physical disability, economic situation or whatever other barriers there might be. ![]() Community Church of Chesterland traces its beginnings to 1819 and has continued to be an integral part of Geauga County. Involvement in and support of the community has been a prime focus of the church. Its affiliation with the Congregational Church continued through the merger of the Congregational Churches with the Christian Churches in 1931 and the merger of the Congregational Christian Church with the Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1957, forming the United Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ is a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions: from the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto—"that they may all be one"—is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the United States. |
